My Life Through Instagram

When I'm not blogging, I'm not sitting at home doing nothing. I'm always out and about doing things, be it at events, seeing friends or filming. I enjoy living my life to the full, and even though I'm not on here all the time to tell you guys about it, I document my days on Instagram and Snapchat (georgie-mb) (if you aren't following me, where have you been?!). So I thought for a chilled Sunday post I would share what I've been up to over the past month or so via Instagram!

Chris and I bought his dog a new duck squeaky toy and he went insane for it! He sort of talks to it as he bites it, and I've never seen him get so possessive over a toy - ever! He was so paranoid throughout the whole evening that someone was going to take it that he would flinch every time someone moved!

I was lucky enough to be invited to Look Fantastic's 17th birthday party in Mayfair, and had such a fab time! I vlogged about it here, but it was great to catch up with some of my fave bloggers, meet some new faces, check out the birthday boxes that Look Fantastic are releasing and head back to the 90's with some great music! I went with Albertine from Dippy Writes (on the right), and was finally able to meet Sam from Beautifie (on the left) in person after talking to her for ages on Twitter.

Me and my friends Katie and Emma went up to London for a day to visit some exhibitions we really wanted to see! We went to the Audrey Hepburn portrait exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery and to the Carsten Höller: Decision exhibition at the Southbank Centre (both which I recommend). This was one of the interactive parts of it where you could push a bar to make these floating mushrooms rotate like a mobile.

I attended the Big Blogger Conference run by LDN Meetups on a day when it was 29 degrees! And as fate would have it, we were inside for the whole day :P it was probably a good thing, as when I was outside the heat was almost stifling, so to be in air-conditioned rooms for the whole day was a positive in disguise...but I had so much fun listening to the talks and meeting the brands. If you want to see what I got up to there, Tuesday's post will be my write-up on it.

For 3 or 4 days this month I was up in Norfolk filming for a US TV show (yes, apparently Norfolk is the perfect alternative to flying us out to the states (but set design did a fab job)) which was probably one of the most challenging roles I've ever done! The days were intense, so to let off steam we spent time on the gorgeous beach front at Mundesley, bowling in the ancient yet very cute bowling alley at the holiday park where we were staying and admiring the stunning Norfolk sunsets.

Hope you enjoyed this little roundup of what I've been up to this past month! It's a great way to update you guys of what I've been doing, so if you like it too I'll continue doing it!

NEW VIDEO! Look Fantastic Birthday Party

Georgie Minter-Brown actress blogger youtube look fantastic birthday party vlog

Sorry about the sound quality guys, I need to get a new vlogging camera is this one is seriously rubbish! Looks like I'll be using my DSLR in the meantime...

Thank you to Look Fantastic for inviting me to their 17th birthday party! It was so much fun; it was quite loud in the club so tried to film as much of the event as possible, but it was mainly us bloggers gossiping and catching up, as well as getting some awesome goody bags and eating too many doughnuts!

OOTD: Take Me To A 70's Festival

I'm a firm believer that festival fashion doesn't have to be confined to the field. During summer, that chilled fun boho look fits in perfectly with summer fashion. Also you can't live your life wearing boring clothes ;)

While picking up a few bits before heading off to T In The Park this year, I discovered this sleeveless cardigan in New Look, and as soon as I put it on, it had to be mine! Even though the 70's trend is overly popular this season, I can't help but sometimes add a hint of 70's into an outfit, being a vintage lover and all. This cardigan is just so cool; I love the pattern and its a great light layer for this time of year. I love how it moves as you walk too, almost like a cape ('no capes' - 10 points to Gryffindor if you know what film that's from)! The material is more delicate than you think- I've unfortunately already got a hole in it, but doesn't show that much due to the loosely knitted material.

I also wanted to debut my new Adidas Stan Smiths and Pretty Little Thing bag in this post. I've been lusting after Stan Smiths for soooo long, and everytime I pluck up the courage to buy some, I can never find them in store or online in my size! Typical. So when I found them in JD Sports (not my usual hunting ground, but great for grabbing a bargain) in the kids section in my size, I couldn't let the opportunity slip by. I warn you though, if you get these make sure you break them in first. Don't travel in them all the way up to Norfolk and then realise that your heel is bleeding.

I was also after a plain black tote bag to use as an everyday handbag for a long time, and after humming and harring over some in H&M, I found the perfect one on PrettyLittleThing.com! The foldover flap mean double security while out and about, and it has so many compartments I always find myself hoarding things in there!

Summer Playlist

So I'm back after an exciting week filming up in Norfolk! It's been so much fun, and I can't wait to share what I've been working on with you! I've had to do a lot of travelling this week, and whenever I travel I'm always reliant on my music to keep me going. Spotify is one of my most used apps, along with Shazam for finding out the names of really cool songs I hear out and about. If you're ever in a shop, just turn Shazam to auto as there as some real hidden gems on shop playlists! I also went to T in the Park this year, which has really upped my love for certain artists (many of whom you will spot in this post). I did a playlist post like this aaggeess ago, but I've been wanting to bring it back for so long...and here we are! So take a look below for what I've been listening to most this summer:

Everything Everything - Distant Past
I have been listening to EE for a while now, and after seeing them live twice now, I just can't get enough of them! I love their old stuff, but the new album Get to Heaven is not to be overlooked. Distant Past was one of the first singles to be released from the album, and I just can't get it out of my head! And once you give it a listen, neither will you ;)

Alt-J - Left Hand Free
I literally freaked out when I saw them live for the first time at T. They are incredible, and each song is so unique. This is a particular favourite, with it's heavy indie/alternative vibes.

Ed Sheeran - This
This is an oldie but a goodie. I don't think I'll ever stop loving Ed's music; I think he's such a great songwriter and his songs are almost like poetry!

Crystal Fighters - Plage
I'd never really listened to these guys consciously until my boyfriend made me listen to them, and I discovered I actually knew a lot of their songs! I think I heard this one on an advert (another source of good music) so was pretty excited to discover this! It's just so happy and summery!

Circa Waves - T-Shirt Weather
This was really good live at T. They're a great band to look out for, especially with the success of this song and Fossils. Again, this is another great summer song for road trips especially.

Hozier - Work Song
If you've been put off by Hozier because of Take Me To Church being overplayed, give him another chance. His music is amazing, and has such heart and soul to it. This is a little gem from his debut album, and it never fails to get me singing along. Sure, it is a little morbid, but his voice is stunning in this. And if you can, see him live as he really shines when onstage!

Jamie T - Rabbit Hole
Jamie T has reaalllyy grown on me, and seeing him at T really helped that. He is just so fun and fresh and incredibly talented. His fast lyrics keeps things exciting and the crowd went crazy when he played this! You've got to love an angsty song that you can shout and scream along to, and this is one of them!

Foals - Mountain At My Gates
I just don't know where to begin. I'm seriously in love with Foals, and their new stuff has just made me love them even more! What Went Down is sooo crazy and really established a new sound for them, and this song has a great mix of their old and new sound. You just want to dance like crazy in the second half (and yes I do that already).

Dutch Uncles - Upsilon
I saw these guys when they supported Everything Everything a few years ago, and when I saw they had a new album out, I had to check it out. And I love it! Their happy techno vibes remind me a bit of Bloc Party but they feel like a breath of fresh air in this genre. Try and see these guys live if you can- their funky dad dancing is on point ;)

The Wombats - Flowerball
This is one of the bonus tracks off their new album which I'm really loving! All of the songs do not disappoint, especially this one. It just sticks in my head!

I made a playlist of these on Spotify if you want to listen to these tracks in all their glory which you can find here!

What are you listening to at the moment?

Nails Inc Swan Street Polish

I'm such a sucker for a good nail polish- my nail polish collection is huuge! So much so that I'm really tempted to do a video on it! But back to this nail polish. I've always loved Nails Inc, and it was my mission when I was younger to collect as many as possible! I didn't get that far but I'm adding this one to a collection of 7 Nails Inc polishes :) I picked up this little gem while in John Lewis, and I couldn't wait to try it out!

Nails Inc The New White Polish in 'Swan Street'

PACKAGING
This was one of the first things that drew me to this polish. I love this new packaging; from the text to the metallic lid to the curved glass. You can't actually use the silver lid to undo the top, so I take it off to use it. It's actually a pretty weighty bottle too, mainly because of the lid. The brush is really useful as it's wide and curved, meaning it fits your nails perfectly for a more accurate finish! I definitely think it fans out better than the Rimmel nail polish brushes.

PRODUCT
I was really happy with this polish! It's from their New White collection and the formula goes on really well, but it is very slightly runny so make sure you're painting and letting them dry on a flat surface. It goes on pretty opaque for a white polish, but I would recommend 2 coats for a light finish or 3 coats for a more intense colour. I tried 2 coats this time, but I think I would go for 3 in the future as I really like that block colour effect. It dries super quickly too, and doesn't budge when it's on if you make sure all the coats have dried completely. The colour is very true to what's in the bottle too- I just can't get enough of the off white/pale green effect.

Overall, this is a great polish, easy to apply and I haven't had any first day chips!!! If you don't know Nails Inc, definitely check them out as they are a great brand to invest in.

Have you tried any of the New White collection from Nails Inc?

OOTD: When In Doubt, Denim

The weather has been all over the place recently. Sunny and hot one minute, cold, windy and raining the next. "How is a girl supposed to dress herself accordingly?!" I hear many cry. Well the answer is transitional dressing. Now, I know many don't even want to think of autumn yet, but autumn is the best time for transitional dressing, when it's neither boiling hot or freezing cold. So looking ahead to autumn fashion can really help in the tricky situation that we call 'British weather'. Pretty denim is set to score over the chillier months, so denim dresses are definitely a great starting point. I picked up this little beauty from the TRF range in Zara recently, after lusting over this style of dress for ages. The simple shift shape that hugs my curves makes it super comfortable, but I am deliberating about removing the tag as it's quite itchy (this may die down in the wash though). The three-quarter length sleeves mean that your arms are kept warm enough during summer nights or slightly cooler days, but you don't overheat if the temperature picks up. If you are thinking about getting this though, you may have to size up as the sizing is quite small. My M&Co mules were the perfect shoes to team with this dress: the heels lift the outfit while the soft leather keeps it comfy and chic.
